Framing carpenters must precisely measure, cut and assemble the framing lumber needed to build or repair residential buildings.  Ability to lift heavy objects, work outdoors year round, work efficiently 8+ feet above the ground & use power tools and hand tools safely are all requirements of this position.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Framing carpenters must be able to lift and carry heavy objects, such as framing lumber, sheets of plywood and other building materials.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand and power tools.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk line, and marking gauge.
  • Install structures or fixtures, such as roof trusses, plywood sheeting, windows, doors, framing, headers and blocking using carpenters' hand and power tools.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines and power tools.
  • Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
  • Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.  Ability to work effectively on these structures which commonly are over 8 feet above the ground. Knowledge of fall protection safely is required.
  • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions.
  • Understand math functions and calculations involving fractions.
  • General knowledge of building codes & on-the-job safety.
  • This position works entirely outdoors, in unconditioned spaces, all year long.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience as a carpenter.
  • Knowledge of residential framing and carpentry.
  • Owns their own carpentry hand tools and safety gear.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to successfully complete onboarding process to include background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Willing to adhere to grooming code.
